Improper use: An increasing number of people use agressive scripts
to retrieve files from ftp.suse.com (up to 90
simultaneous connections and/or connection attempts every
10 seconds!). This will not be tolerated.
ftp-clients: I suggest to use a ftp-client that allows reget
(such as `wget', SuSE Linux package series `n').
Problem reports regarding the use of common webbrowsers
as ftp-clients will not be answered. Get a decent client.
ISO-Images: ISO-Images of SuSE Linux (evaluation version) usually
appear with the respective version on ftp.suse.com
              If there's no ISO-Image in
              ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/PLATFORM/
it is futile to ask for it (don't send e-mail)
It may be postponed in order to prevent server overload
              (but check the mirrors).
6.4 on ftp: Is available at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/6.4
The evaluation version and its ISO image is
              available at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386
Please use a mirror site of ours!!!
**************** LATEST NEWS ****************

ftp.suse.com is located in Nuernberg, Germany. If you can't connect,
try again a few hours later or use one of our mirror sites
(http://www.suse.de/en/support/download/ftp/index.html).

ftp.suse.com allows anonymous-ftp and its directory structure is
straightforward. The ftp-versions of SuSE Linux and updates to
individual packages are located in: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse

Please note: The SuSE installation support does NOT cover
the ftp-version and the evaluation-version of SuSE Linux.
It is futile to send support-requests for these versions.

The difference between the ftp-version and the evaluation-version
is simply in the number of software-packages. The core system
including kernel, glibc, gcc, utils and XFree86 is identical.
`Evaluation Version' does not mean that this version of SuSE Linux
is restricted or crippled in any way.

Please note that ftpadmin@suse.com will _not_ answer questions
regarding:

- how to use FTP (read the manpage)
- when particular packages or ftp-versions of SuSE Linux will be
available (this is in the responsibility of the SuSE package
maintainers) - this includes evaluation CD ISO-images
- where particular packages are located (unless we've mistakenly
moved them - in this case, please include the exact URL that fails)
- why connections to ftp.suse.com may be slower than the maximum
  bandwidth you have available
- other questions that are not related to ftp.suse.com
(esp. support questions, e.g. about the ftp-update function of YaST)
- the availability of SuSE Linux on our mirror sites
- how to write the ftp-version to multiple CDs (use the Evaluation-CD
ISO-image and install additional packages via ftp)
- why your proprietary proxyserver causes problems when downloading
files from ftp.suse.com but `works with every other server'
- why you may have trouble downloading large files using Netscape
(use `wget' from SuSE Linux package series `n' instead)
- why it is spelled `anonymous' and not `anonymus' or `anonymuos'
